Turkmenistan working to obtain status in WTO

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1 By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend: Turkmenistan is conducting preparatory work for obtaining the observer status in the World Trade Organization (WTO), Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. This was stated during 5th session of the online seminar on the accession of the countries to the World Trade Organization (WTO) entitled 'Accession in Focus: Eurasia', which was held on June 1, 2020. The Turkmen side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hadjiev. The videoconference was also attended by representatives of relevant departments and organizations of the public and private sectors, as well as scientists from participating countries and observers of the WTO. Hadjiev spoke on the preparatory work that country provides in order to obtain an observer status in the WTO. The obtaining of observer status in the WTO will contribute to the integration of Turkmenistan into international economic structures, attract investment from abroad, ensure guarantees and transparency for investors and trade partners, and strengthen the country's position on commercial issues. The session was part of webinars dedicated to the accession of Eurasian countries to the WTO.
