Turkmenistan will help Afghanistan in the restoration - President

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec. 10/ Trend H. Hasanov/ Turkmenistan will continue to participate actively in international efforts in Afghanistan, to provide full support to the neighboring country in the restoration of socio-economic infrastructure, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the government meeting. The information of the Turkmen government said that at the meeting heard a report on the results of the participation of the Turkmen delegation held the other day in Bonn (Germany) International Conference on Afghanistan. Also states that the purpose of making optimal decisions on Afghanistan intended to serve as the initiatives taken by the official Ashgabat and on resolving the situation in Afghanistan "by peaceful, diplomatic, negotiating techniques, socio-economic revival of the country, development of effective institutions are state power." In this regard, there was the special significance of the project on construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline, the realization that, "certainly have a positive impact on the development of the Afghan economy as a whole and the political situation in the country, will help address important social issues" . Of no less importance are the initiatives for increasing the supply of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan, the development of transport and, in particular, the rail infrastructure of the neighboring state of training for this country. The basic document for the promotion of TAPI is the inter-state agreement of TAPI, signed in Ashgabat on a high level in December 2010. The length of TAPI could reach 1,700 0 km, its design capacity - 33 bcm. meters of natural gas per year, the cost is estimated at 7-8 billion U.S. dollars. At the 1680 km route of the future gas pipeline is planned to construct six compressor stations - from the Turkmen fields to the village Fazilka (India) on the border between Pakistan and India. At this stage, the parties involved in the project agree on the price of raw materials, the safety of transit, to decide whether the financing and the formation of an international consortium. Experts note that a major obstacle to implementing the TAPI pipeline is continuing the escalation in Afghanistan. Ashgabat proposed a UN-sponsored inter-Afghan peace talks. Ashgabat has declared its readiness to give his country's political space for the UN-sponsored international meeting of high-level and intra-Afghan talks on the situation in Afghanistan.
