Turkish Presidential Advisor Hails Qatar Role in Syria

Doha, March 16 (QNA) - Turkish Presidential Advisor Ersat Hurmuzlu praised Qatar's role in leading the Arab and international efforts to protect the Syrian people and work on a resolution that prevents the regime of Bashar al-Assad from shedding more Syrian blood. In an interview with Arabic daily newspaper 'Al Sharq', published here on Friday, Hurmuzlu called on reluctant countries to follow the steps of Qatar in effectively trying to save the Syrian people. The Turkish politician said that his country has lost any hope that Assad may listen to the voice of reason, and respond to the demands of democracy and freedom the Syrian people have been calling for. Hurmuzlu called on the Syrian opposition and the political movements to join forces, leave behind any divisions, and agree on a national plan or project to save Syria rather than forming a government in exile. He added that Turkey supports the Arab initiative that goes in line with the Turkish vision for solving the crisis in order to end the violence and help the Syrian people find democracy and freedom. Hurmuzlu hailed as strong the Qatari-Turkish relations, and said that mutual coordination is ongoing regarding critical issues. "Qatari-Turkish relations are at their best. Continuous coordination between Qatari and Turkish leaders is ongoing,” said Hurmuzlu, adding that mutual coordination is an important matter that resulted in several major decisions and effective solutions for the different issues.
