TURKISH EXPORTERS TARGET AT 111 BLN USD OF EXPORTS IN 2010

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 21.01.2010 - Turkish exporters announced on Thursday their year-end target around 111 billion USD.
Mehmet Buyukeksi, chairman of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM), said that the assembly's target was to earn some 111 billion USD from exports in 2010.
"However, we are worried about the pressure an IMF agreement will put on hot money and foreign exchange rates," Buyukeksi told AA correspondent.
Buyukelci said he was hopeful about 2010, however he was concerned about an agreement with the IMF and its possible risks, and the possible stance of the Central Bank to attach more importance to inflation instead of stability of the Turkish lira (TL).
"We also have concerns about low foreign exchange rate and strong TL, and we plan to take measures to prevent exports from foreign exchange rate pressure," he said.
Buyukelci also said he thought exports to Iraq might rise to 10 billion USD in a few years.
Turkey earned around 101.6 billion USD from exports in 2009.
