TURKISH CARPET MAKER TO OPEN FACTORY IN CHINA
GAZIANTEP (A.A) - 11.10.2010 - Turkish carpet manufacturer will open a factory in the People's Republic of China.
Merinos Hali, the second biggest carpet manufacturer in the world, will increase its exports up to 100 million USD by the end of 2010.
Mahmut Erdemlioglu, a member of the Executive Board of Merinos Hali, told A.A on Monday, "we have factories in the provinces of Gaziantep, Izmir, Istanbul and Usak. We manufacture carpets, blankets and furniture. We opened four first factory abroad in Russia."
"Our annual sales increased by 35-40 percent in 2010 when compared to sales in 2009. We made an additional investment worth of 20 million euro for our carpet factory in Russia. We have a great market in this country. We export our products to 65 countries," he said.
Erdemlioglu said that their annual exports would increase to 100 million USD by the end of 2010 from 70 million USD in 2009.
"We are going to manufacture carpets and thread in China. Construction of the factory will begin in 2012," he added.
Established in 1970, Merinos Hali has become a giant enterprise with representations in 47 countries. With 30 different quality, 15 various color group and thousands of alternative design range, Merinos Hali exports 25 percent of its production.
