Turkey's EU minister summarizes Turkey's economic success with stability, confidence

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Turkey's European Union (EU) minister and chief negotiator summarized on Friday Turkey's economic success in two words as stability and confidence. Egemen Bagis said stability was ensured in Turkey with a single-party strong government and confidence was built as the nation trusted in the government it elected and started to make investments. "Thus Turkey started to grow, and today Turkey has become the fastest growing country in Europe," Bagis said during the Conference on "Turkey-EU: Common Interests Revisited" organized in Istanbul by the Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey (TUSKON) and European Policy Center. Bagis said Turkey could not remain indifferent to the process Europe was undergoing because half of its foreign trade was with Europe. "Europe should also see that we have common interests," Bagis said. Bagis said Turkey and Europe should find common solutions to common problems, and they should cooperate to strengthen peace without forgetting that the EU was a peace process. Egemen Bagis also said Europe's getting stronger and ensuring stability and confidence in time was crucial for Turkey.
