TURKEY'S AKTAS GROUP AIMS TO RAISE INVESTMENTS IN BRAZIL
SAO PAULO (A.A) - 27.05.2010 - Turkey's Aktas Group aims to raise its investments in Brazil to 15 million USD.
Sahap Aktas, the chairperson of Aktas Group, said the group had 5 million USD of investments in Brazil, and it wanted to raise it to 15 million USD in three years.
Aktas Group produces air suspension systems and bellows.
"We established a factory in Brazil two years ago with an investment of 5 million USD to produce air suspension bellows for busses and lorries," Aktas told AA correspondent.
Aktas is among businessmen accompanying Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his visit to Brazil. He attended the First Turkish Export Products Fair, organized in Sao Paulo by Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO).
"Our annual production will be up from 250,000 to 1 million," Aktas said.
The Aktas Group has constructed a factory in Bulgaria with 6 million Euro investment, and another in China with 12 million USD investment.
"We plant to build a factory in Russia in 2011, and aim at 145 million Euro of annual turnover this year," Aktas said.
Aktas also said the group aimed to enter Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) in 2015
Aktas Group exports 80 percent of its products to more than 70 countries, mainly to European Union countries, Russia, Ukraine, Algeria, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Dubai, Turkic republics, Singapore, China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, North and South America.
It employs 415 people in Turkey, and employs 10 people in LFT GmbH logistics store, which has 1000 square meter area in Cologne/Dormagen in Germany.
Also speaking to AA correspondent, Cimsa's director general Huseyin Ozkan said the company had been exporting cement to Brazil for five years.
Ozkan said the company earned 6 million USD from its exports to Brazil in 2009, and aimed to raise this figure to 8 million USD this year.
"We want to grow more by opening new factories in the Balkans, Middle East and North Africa," he said.
A leading Turkish manufacturer of cement and ready-mixed concrete products, Cimsa produces special products such as white cement and calcium aluminate cement, as well as gray cement. It markets its products under its own trademark in 46 countries from its companies and terminals in Spain – Seville, Germany – Emden, Romania – Constanta, Russia – Novorossysk and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) – Gazimagusa.
Cilek Mobilya (furniture) is another Turkish company investing in Brazil. It has reached an agreement with Brazilian furniture chain Etna.
"Etna has almost 70 shops in Brazil and our products will also be sold in these shops," Cilek Mobilya's executive Okan Cekmegeli said.
Cilek also had shops in Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Cekmegeli said.
Cekmegeli also said the company would be present in 100 points in South Africa with new agreements, and it was making 20 percent of its overall exports to Latin America.
Cilek opened its first international store in Malta in 2001, and registered Cilek brand, logo, and products in 70 countries all over the world. Besides, the Cilek products are sold in prestigious chain stores of world such as Moebel Pfister (Switzerland), Kika Leiner (Austria), A-Mobler (Norway), Alghanim (Kuwait), Liverpool (Mexico), and XXLutz (Germany).
Also, Kerem Vaizoglu, an executive of Ekinciler Iron and Steel Industry Inc., said the company started to export to Brazil in 2009, becoming the first company exporting construction iron to Brazil.
Vaizoglu said the company earned 40 million USD from its exports to Brazil in 2009, and wanted to raise it to 60 million USD this year.
Ekinciler Iron and Steel Industry Inc. serves as a part of iron & steel sector with a one million ton/year production capacity and exports its products to over 60 countries for the past 40 years.
Turkey's Akkim chemical company is also investing in Brazil.
