TURKEY SEES CHINA AS AN OPPORTUNITY, NOT A THREAT, SAYS AMBASSADOR

BEIJING (A.A) - 27.04.2010 - Turkey considers China as an opportunity for commercial ties, not a threat, Turkish Ambassador to China said on Tuesday.
Ambassador Murat Esenli, who met with Turkish reporters at the 2010 Beijing International Auto Show, gave brief information about China and Chinese economy.
"Turkey's and China's approaches to foreign policy issues overlap each other," Esenli said. "We are working hard to improve commercial ties."
Esenli recalled that Turkey and China signed an agreement on cooperation of Turkish and Chinese contracting firms in third countries, and said Turkish and Chinese companies have inked investment and construction agreements so far in several countries.
He said Turkey's exports to China reached 1.6 billion USD, adding that more than 200 Turkish firms were active in China. A significant part of these companies are manufacturing in this country, he said.
