FINE TUNE TO NATO
NATO will have a key role in the military operation against Libya. However, the coalition will make the decisions. Turkey made NATO accept its reservations, and decided to send vessels and troops off Libya. Turkey will make the biggest contribution to the UN mission to control arms embargo against Libya and extend humanitarian assistance with five vessels and a submarine. 1,040 Turkish soldiers will be on duty in the region. NATO commander James Stavridis came to Ankara on Wednesday and assessed the developments with Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

PRESIDENT GUL: AL-GADHAFI SHOULD LEAVE
President Abdullah Gul warned Libyan leader Muammar al-Gadhafi. Gul said, "those who are ruling Libya right now should leave their position as soon as possible." Citing to France, Gul said some countries were after opportunist purposes in the UN mission regarding Libya.

PRESIDENT GUL CALLS ON AL-GADHAFI TO LEAVE OFFICE
Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Wednesday called on Libyan leader Muammar al-Gadhafi to leave office immediately. "The operation directed against Libya must end in the shortest time possible so that there is no more bloodshed," Gul said.

TURKEY SENDS 4 SHIPS TO LIBYA TO ENFORCE ARMS EMBARGO AGAINST LIBYA
NATO began an operation on Wednesday to enforce an arms embargo against Libya. Turkey will make the largest contribution to NATO's operation. Turkey will send five ships and one submarine to the region for the NATO operation.

PRESIDENT GUL CRITICIZES SOME COUNTRIES
Turkish President Abdullah Gul criticized some countries' attitude regarding military operation to Libya and said that some countries acted in accordance with their own interests. "It is important for Turkey that the situation in Libya ends without further bloodshed. Those who run Libya must step down immediately to ward off plunder of their country by others," Gul told reporters before his departure for Ghana from the Turkish capital, Ankara.

CENTRAL BANK NOT CHANGE INTEREST RATES
Turkish Central Bank announced its decision on interest rates. The bank released a statement and said that the bank kept the overnight borrowing interest rate same at 1.5 percent. The bank also kept the lending interest rate same at 9 percent and one-week repo auction interest rate same at 6.25 percent, it said. The bank said that inflation figures for basic goods would continue to get higher for some more time and that inflation in the services sector would rise only slightly.
