AP'S INTERESTING POLL 
The Associated Press-GfK has conducted a poll on attitudes and opinions of Turks. It is based on a national random sample of 1,200 Turks age 18 and older in 48 different provinces in November and December. Accordingly, about 54 percent of the Turkish public has a favorable opinion of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.  About half of Turks see a high level of economic growth as extremely important as a goal for their country. Beyond the economy, terrorism rises as another widespread concern, with 66 percent calling it an extremely serious problem. The poll revealed that half of Turks support their country's accession into the European Union. 

KILICDAROGLU: EDUCATION IN MOTHER TONGUE IS DIFFICULT FOR TODAY
The head of the main opposition party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu attended his political party's meeting in the southeastern province of Van. "We need to change people's negative perception about the Republican People's Party (CHP) in the region. Education in mother tongue is part of the human rights. But it is not a problem that can be resolved in Turkey today," he said.

I WILL RESIGN IF WE BECOME THE SECOND PARTY
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the opposition parties that, "if people believe in you, they will do whatever necessary. If they don't believe in you, will you be able to do whatever necessary? I am saying, I will quit leadership if my party becomes the second party during June 12 elections."
Prime Minister Erdogan asked the opposition leaders if they would do the same under the same conditions.

RANSOM DEMANDED FOR TURKS ABDUCTED IN KIRKUK
Ransom was demanded for three Turkish citizens who were abducted on February 15. In an announcement thrown to streets of Kirkuk, it was stated that three Turkish citizens were abducted as Turkey supported Turkmens in a clash regarding a land in Besir village of Kirkuk. Three arabs died and five Turkmens were injured in the clash that erupted. 
A broad scale operation is underway to rescue the Turkish citizens.

THEY ALSO ARRESTED TURKS
7,000 Turkish citizens who are in the area of clash in Libya, are the target of both the looters and the troops. Turks said planes evacuating people were not adequate and urgently asked for ship. 
It was also stated that there were Turkish citizens among those who were arrested on charges of inciting riot.

6.2 BILLION LIRA SUPPORT TO FARMERS
Agriculture Minister Mehmet Mehdi Eker said 6.2 billion lira support payment would be made to farmers this year. Eker said, "more than 90 percent part of this payment will be made till June."
Eker said organic animal breeding implementation would start this year, "more than 50 percent of support to animal breeding will be made as support to organic animal breeding," he said.
