ARE 233 BULLETS NOT INEVITABLE?
Two villagers who were collecting thyme in Cardak Plateau in the southern province of Hatay were killed due to a fire opened by soldiers in the morning of June 28, 2010. They were killed just because they were thought to be terrorist organization PKK members, and the prosecutor's office said, "the mistake is inevitable." The Hatay Prosecutor's Office prepared an indictment in which it said the clothes and behaviors of the villagers resembled "PKK militants". For the 233 bullets used by soldiers against the villagers who were 40 meters away from them, the prosecutor's office said, "they can make a mistake." The office said, "nobody can be punished for fulfilling the provisions of laws." The prosecutors demanded the court to try three of the soldiers on charges of "killing by negligence."
