TURKEY HAS GAINED ISLAMIC WORLD'S RESPECT WITH ITS STANCE IN GAZA, SUDANESE AMBASSADOR


IZMIR (A.A) - 26.07.2010 - Sudan's ambassador in the Turkish capital said on Monday that Turkey had gained the respect of the Islamic world with its stance on Gaza issue.
Speaking to reporters following his visit to the office of Izmir Governor Cahit Kirac, Sudanese ambassador in Ankara Omer Hidar Abu Zaid said the Turkish government's support was highly appreciated in Sudan.
Describing Turkey as a "rising star" among Islamic countries, Zaid said, "Turkey has gained the respect of the Islamic world thanks to its stance in Gaza".  
Noting that his visit to the Aegean province of Izmir aimed at boosting relations between Turkey and Sudan, Zaid said he hoped economic and commercial ties between the two countries would improve as mush as their political relations. 
"Nearly 2,000 Turkish entrepreneurs are currently doing business in Sudan. We want such figure to increase," the Sudanese ambassador said.
Governor Kirac said in his part that he had the chance to share his views on Izmir's development process during his meeting with Zaid.
"In addition to our historical and cultural ties, we would like to improve our relations with Sudan in areas of industry and commerce as well," Kirac said.
Kirac also noted that his city was ready to extend support to Sudan concerning medicine and education.
