Turkey earns 56.2 million USD from Istanbul museum entrance fees

ISTANBUL (A.A) Feb 10 - Turkey earned 56.2 million USD from entrance fees of Istanbul's museums in 2010.
Almost 7 million tourists visited Istanbul, which had been the capital of Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires for centuries.
11,661,624 people visited Istanbul's museums and historical attractions in 2010, and left an income of 90 million TL (56.2 million USD).
Topkapi Palace was the mostly-visited museum in Istanbul in 2010. 3,588,730 tourists visited Topkapi Palace Museum in 2010 and Istanbul earned 30.6 million TL (19.1 million USD) of income from this museum's fees. 
Hagia Sophia Museum was the second most-visited museum in Istanbul with 2,952,768 visitors and income worth 26.6 million TL (16.6 million USD).
Other most-visited museums were Turkish and Islamic Artifacts Museum, Hisarlar Museum, Istanbul Archeology Museum, Yildiz Palace Museum, Yerebatan Cistern.
1,124,503 people visited Istanbul's palaces and mansions in 2010 and they left 11.6 million TL (7.25 million USD) of income.
