Tunisian Interior Minister: HH the Heir Apparent to Visit Tunisia

Doha, July 02 (QNA) - Tunisian Interior Minister Ali Larayedh said that HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will visit Tunisia in the future. The visit will be a good opportunity to enhance bilateral cooperation and sign several agreements whether in the developmental sector or other sectors, Larayedh told QNA, adding that the visit will also be a chance to brief HH the Heir Apparent on Tunisia's post-revolution achievements. The Tunisian Minister, currently on a visit to Doha, said he met on Monday with HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent. "HH was totally aware of the situation in Tunisia, the aspirations of the Tunisian people, and the conditions of North Africa and the whole Arab Maghreb," he said. "HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani clearly expressed Qatar's continued support for Tunisia in various fields, especially the development field such as investment," Larayedh said, adding that some projects have already started. He pointed to HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent's welcoming and support for enhancing cooperation between the ministries of interior in both countries. He also said that specialized Qatari and Tunisian officials will exchange visits more frequently to deepen relations between Doha and Tunis. Larayedh revealed that a security agreement will be signed soon between the Qatari and Tunisian interior ministries, noting that the agreement is about crime combating and exchange of information and expertise. He added that his meeting with HE Minister of Interior Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani reviewed the different aspects of cooperation in combating crimes, especially transnational ones such as terrorism, drugs and human trafficking. Talks also tackled exchanging expertise in police institutes, joint training, and exchange of missions. The two officials also discussed potential job opportunities in Qatar for Tunisian security and civil defense personnel. The Tunisian Interior Minister also lauded the developed security installations in Qatar, adding that he had closely learnt about the advanced facilities and modern programs envisaged by Qatar in this regard, especially with regards to the possibilities available for the education and training programs. He congratulated the Qatari leadership on these gains and achievements and wished Qatar continued progress and stability. Larayedh praised Qatar's community police experiment, noting that the Tunisian ministry will send experts to study it and replicate it in Tunisia. He also hailed the medical care given to the 20 Tunisian revolution wounded people, whom Qatar pledged to offer medical treatment for, adding that he noticed the special care provided when he visited them.
