Toyota to Become Sponsor of 2020 Olympics If Tokyo Hosts

Buenos Aires, Sept. 4 (Jiji Press)--Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> intends to become a sponsor of the 2020 Summer Olympics if Tokyo is chosen as the host of the event, Fujio Cho, honorary chairman of the top Japanese automaker, said Wednesday. "I'm sure that, if the Olympics takes place in Tokyo in 2020, Toyota will be the first to become a sponsor," Cho said at a press conference held by the Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee in the Argentine capital. Toyota "believes in the power of sports," Cho added. Tokyo is vying with Istanbul and Madrid in the race to host the 2020 Games. The International Olympic Committee is set to choose the host city at its general meeting here on Saturday. END
