Top SABIC official visits GPIC

Manama, Sep.23(BNA): The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) welcomed Saudi Basis Industries Company (SABIC) Executive Vice President (Technology) Awad bin Mohammed Al-Maker, who visited to the plant on an inspection tour. GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and members of the company’s executive management received Mr. Al-Maker. Dr. Jawahery conveyed to the visitor the greetings of the Chairman and His Royal Highness the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Oil and industrial Affairs, Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa and said the company took great pride in its many years of co-operation and close partnership with SABIC at all levels. He said SABIC, being one of the world’s largest oil companies, had enormous, modern and sophisticated facilities. Dr. Jawahery briefed Mr. Al-Maker on the developments at the GPIC and the nature of the company’s business and strategy. He outlined the operating systems and production facilities, exports and marketing details as well as the latest achievements by the GPIC. The visitor was also briefed on the high production quality and the company’s stress on safety, security and the environment. Mr. Al-Maker was told about the state-of-the-art carbon di oxide recovery plant, the first of its kind in the region, and a key environmental project at the facility. He was also briefed on the GPIC’s training facilities, especially the Academy of Leadership and Learning and the eLearning Centre, which have contributed to the continuing education process of company employees. He said the facilities have proved their significant role in providing practical training for students of universities and institutions. He said such facilities within the company’s complex confirm the great attention the GPIC gives to staff training issues. Mr. Al-Maker later toured the company’s environmental project, including the Princess Sabeeka Aromatic Plants and Medicinal Herbs Garden, the Charity Fish Farm and the Bird Sanctuary. He then planted a tree to commemorate his visit and thanked the company’s executive management for the welcome and the hospitality. He gave his best wishes for the company to accomplish more and to continue on its path of progress. SABIC, besides being one of the world’s largest oil companies, is also a leading manufacturer of chemicals and fertilizers. It has a close working relationship with various sectors and collaborates with them in various fields.
