Top Qatari Executive to Deliver Keynote Address at World Gas Conference

Kuala Lumpur, June 05 (QNA) - A top executive from Qatar's energy sector will deliver a keynote address here Wednesday at the 25th World Gas Conference (WGC). Qatar Petroleum (QP) along with its joint venture companies, RasGas and Qatargas, has a highly prominent participation in the WGC which formally opened Monday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia, QP said. The high-profile delegation from Qatar is led by QP Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of RasGas Company Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi and Qatargas Operating Company Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani. Al Mohannadi will deliver a keynote address entitled 'The Next Phase for Global LNG' on Wednesday, while Sheikh Khalid will be chairing another keynote session of the 25th WGC on the same day. Held under the theme 'Gas: Sustaining Future Global Growth', the 25th WGC brings together the world's leading oil and gas companies, the top management of these firms and hundreds of industry professionals for an in-depth discussion of the current state and future directions of the global gas industry. The triennial event is organised by the International Gas Union (IGU), a non-profit organisation whose members from a total of 77 countries, including Qatar, account for over 95 percent of the global gas market. With the State of Qatar having the world's third largest gas reserves and with its pre-eminent position as the world s No. 1 producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG), QP has a very strong presence at the 25th WGC, following the directives of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman and Managing Director of QP Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada. Malaysia's Prime Minister Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak formally inaugurated the 25th WGC exhibition Monday. The premier visited the QP pavilion where he was presented with a memento by Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani. Other senior officials from QP, RasGas and Qatargas are also attending the 25th WGC. The QP delegation includes Mohd Jassim Mohd Ahmed Al-Baker, Director Mesaieed; Ahmad Saif Ahmad Al-Sulaiti, Operations Manager - Dukhan Fields.; and Eid Mubarak Mohd Al Kashashi Al Muhannadi, Operations Manager (Gas Operations). Many members from the Qatari delegation will be taking part in the panel sessions, committee sessions, expert forums and interactive poster sessions. QP Manager for Strategic Planning Nicholas Harry Blessley will deliver a presentation on 'The Future of Gas Formation - The NOC View' during one of the committee sessions. QP is also one of the major exhibitors at the 25th WGC exhibition which has attracted the participation of over 300 companies from more than 40 countries worldwide. The QP pavilion prominently features the corporation s activities as well as the operations of Qatargas and RasGas which are the event s principal sponsor and diamond sponsor, respectively, QP said in a media statement.
