JET ARRANGEMENT
After the crisis that occurred as the Higher Election Board (YSK) annulled MP candidacies of seven independent applicants, supported by the Peace & Democracy Party (BDP), Istanbul Basic Criminal Court reduced BDP lawmaker Sebahat Tuncel's punishment to six months. Tuncel's lawyer Baran Dogan made an application to the court on Wednesday, and in two hours, the court reduced one and a half years of imprisonment term granted to Tuncel to only six months. Lawyer Dogan said, "according to Election Law, Tuncel is eligible to join parliamentary elections since her sentence is less than a year."
Leyla Zana, Hatip Dicle, Gultan Kisanak, Sebahat Tuncel, Ertugrul Kurkcu and Salih Yildiz got documents from courts showing that "they are eligible to be elected", and objected to YSK's decision cancelling their candidacies. YSK will examine the objections on Thursday. 

PROTEST WITH WORK MACHINES
A group including BDP member Emine Ayna and Diyarbakir Mayor Osman Baydemir wanted to stage a protest march after making a statement in front of BDP branch in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir. When police tried to hamper the group, the group made a barricade with work machines. When the group used fireworks and petrol bombs, police broke the windows of work machines and detained those who used the machines. One person died in incidents in Bismil.

TURKEY GOT TIRED
The Supreme Board of Election's (YSK) cancelling the candidacy of 12 independent applicants caused tension both in politics and on the streets. Courts have eventually confirmed that the vetoes were unfair. YSK is expected to take a step back and fix its mistake today.
Names like Leyla Zana, Hatip Dicle, Gultan Kisanak, Sebahat Tuncel and Ertugrul Kurkcu, whose participation in the upcoming general elections was blocked by YSK, obtained the documents requested from them from relevant courts. There are no more obstacles on the way for these candidates. YSK, which will assess the objections during a gathering this morning, is also expected to take a decision to that end.

CHP'S ASSERTIVE GOALS IN ECONOMY
Republican People's Party (CHP) made public its program on economy 2 months before the general elections. The program's title envisages "a new economy that focuses on human and production towards the 100th anniversary of the Republic".
Within the framework of CHP's program, domestic savings-national income ratio will be increased to 18.8 percent in the next 4 years and to 22 percent by the year 2023. Tax over the minimum wage will be cancelled, while price of diesel oil will be fixed at 1.5 Turkish liras for farmers and SMEs will be provided with loans with zero interest.

DOCUMENT READY, EYES SET ON YSK
MP candidates supported by Peace & Democracy Party (BDP), whose applications were vetoed by YSK, have obtained the documents requested from them from relevant courts. YSK will convene today to take a decision on the matter.
Sources said that there were no more obstacles for Sebahat Tuncel, whose imprisonment was delayed, however, Isa Gurbuz got a negative reply from the court. YSK's deputy head delivered a promising statement on the issue. "We will start examining the documents as of 10 a.m., we have time until Sunday. I expect our board to take a decision that will contribute to the development of democratic rights and improvement of freedoms," the official said.

KEMAL DERVIS CANDIDATE FOR IMF'S TOP POSITION
British newspapers wrote that Kemal Dervis might take over the presidency of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from Dominique Strauss-Kahn. French Minister Christine Lagarde and former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown are Dervis' rivals in the competition.

GVT TO EXTEND PERIOD OF TAX AMNESTY
The government is thinking about extending the period of tax amnesty for one more month. Those who want to benefit from the "biggest tax amnesty of Turkish Republican history" was to made their applications until May 2. However, the government is thinking about extending the period for one more month due to high amount of applications and due to work load of local branches of Finance Ministry and the Social Security Agency (SGK). 

"WE WILL MAINTAIN ECONOMIC STABILITY"
Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu made public a strategy to counter the targets of the Justice & Development (AK) Party for 2023. Kilicdaroglu said, "5 percent growth is not sufficient, we forecast 7 percent growth rate. 2.1 trillion USD of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is not enough for 2023, our target is 2.6 trillion USD. Moreover, 545 billion USD of export target for 2023 is insufficient, we will raise it to 650 billion USD."

CLEAN SLATE WITH JET SPEED
Six independent MP candidates, supported by the Peace & Democracy Party (BDP), got "clean slates" from courts on Wednesday, and handed the documents to the Higher Election Board (YSK). The board will make its final decision on Thursday.

BISMIL CANCELLATION TO THE SUMMIT
As the veto crisis calmed down thanks to the delivery of requested documents, the deadly clash in southeastern Diyarbakir province's Bismil town gave rise to political tension again. As part of the efforts to find a legal and political solution to overcome the veto crisis with the Supreme Board of Election (YSK), Turkish President Abdullah Gul invited Peace & Democracy Party's (BDP) former co-chair Selahattin Demirtas to Cankaya Presidential Palace. Demirtas, who accepted the invitation at first, later cancelled the appointment as he travelled to Bismil where one person died. "We would like to hold talks with our president as soon as possible," Demirtas said.

HUMAN-FOCUSED PROGRAM
Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu introduced his party's new strategy on economy to economy writers. The strategy, which has the title "a new economy that focuses on human and production towards the 100th anniversary of the Republic", envisages "production and wealth for everybody". The strategy also gives priority to balanced growth that will minimize Turkey's dependence on external resources, create employment opportunities and increase incomes.

MUNICIPAL WORK MACHINES FACE TO FACE WITH POLICE PANZERS
One person died in clashes that occurred in a protest in Bismil, Diyarbakir against the decision of the Higher Election Board (YSK) annulling the MP candidacies of some independent applicants. Selahattin Demirbas of the Peace & Democracy Party (BDP) decided not to visit the Presidential Residence to overcome the existing candidacy problem. BDP members tried to overcome the panzer barricade of police by municipal work machines in Diyarbakir.

THAT LETTER FOUND IN PRESIDENTIAL PALACE
The original letter poet Nazim Hikmet wrote to Great Leader Ataturk from prison was found in the archives of the Cankaya Presidential Palace. The letter written on August 18, 1938 had never been conveyed to Ataturk. In the letter, Nazim Hikmet says, "I want justice from Kemalism and you. I swear in the name of Turkish reforms and yourself that I am innocent."

WHY HAVE WE BEEN PAYING FOR THIS?
The Higher Election Board (YSK) made a disputable decision at first and annulled the MP candidacies of some independent applicants, but then took a backward step. The country is paying the accounts. Turkey was tensed as the YSK closed the path of seven independent applicants, backed by the Peace of Democracy Party (BDP). Some claimed the decision was made in line with the old Turkish Penal Code and defined it "a legal scandal." BDP members rushed to streets, attacked public buildings, set banks on fire. One protestor died in incidents in Bismil, Diyarbakir. YSK took a backward step only one day after its first decision, but Turkey's peace and order was harmed.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan hosted children from around world who came to Turkey for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. Erdogan wore traditional clothes children had brought, and said, "children should always smile, and you give a message to the world from here that there should be no wars and enmities should end."

YES TO DEMOCRATIC REACTION, NO TO TERROR WITH PETROL BOMBS
The "veto" crisis the Higher Election Board (YSK) has caused led to reaction of all political parties except the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). However, demonstrators who set shops on fire and turned cities into a war field overshadowed the democratic reaction. When political and judicial circles are mobilized to solve the problem, Kurdish intellectuals and politicians warned the Peace & Democracy Party (BDP): "Do not become unjust when you are just. Do not be a part of ugly intrigues."

USA SEIZES ASSETS OF FIVE TOP MEMBERS OF PKK
The United States made a significant decision to support Turkey's fight against the terrorist organization PKK. The U.S. administration declared Cemil Bayik, Duran Kalkan, Remzi Kartal, Sabri Ok and Adem Uzun "illicit drug traffickers", and seized their assets. In 2009, Washington included PKK top members Murat Karayilan, Ali Riza Altun and Zubeyir Aydar in a black list.

BOARD OF DESTROYING ELECTIONS
Turkey, which was getting ready to celebrate democracy on June 12, was stressed with Supreme Board of Election's (YSK) legally controversial "12 vetoes" decision. The board, which requested several documents from the candidates and later took a step back, admitted the irrelevance of its decision as well. Five candidates, backed up by Peace & Democracy Party (BDP), collected their documents, and now, the only thing left is the unrest on the streets triggered by YSK which is the authority responsible for carrying the country to the elections.

MILLIYET SOLD TO ITS FIRST OWNER
Dogan Holding, which sat at the negotiation table to sell Milliyet and Vatan dailies, delivered the expected statement. The holding said that the two newspapers had been sold to Milliyet's first owner Karacan-Demiroren partnership for 74 million USD.
