Through IORA Summit, RI Foreign Minister Encourages RI-Mauritania Cooperation

Jakarta, IORA - “During my visit to African continent last month, I was impressed by its potential. At the moment, Afrika becomes the priority of Indonesia’s foreign affairs policy, in particular in the context of economic diplomacy,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno L.P. Marsudi at a meeting with Mauritanian Foreign Minister Seetanah Lutchmeenaraidoo, on the sidelines of IORA Summit, at the Jakarta Convention Center (6/3).
Minister Retno Marsudi expressed her appreciation for the participation of Mauritania in the Summit. Through IORA, Indonesia wants to show its commitment to Africa since the relations between Indonesia and Africa has been established since 1955.
“Mauritania is the biggest African investor in Indonesia. Last year, investment value of Mauritania in 250 projects reached US$ 576.5 million, or 12 times bigger that the figure in 2015 totaling US$ 30.67 million,” the Minister explained.
The Indonesian Foreign Minister also encouraged Mauritania to diversify their investments in Indonesia. Therefore, Indonesia invites the investors to actively participate in other sectors, such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, etc.
