Thailand speeds up probing death of two Canadian tourists

KRABI, THAILAND, June 19 (TNA) - Experts of Thailand's Disease Control Department are in the renowned Phi Phi Islands here to gather evidence, after two young Canadian sisters died in their hotel room late last week. The experts from the department’s Bureau of Epidemiology Tuesday looked into evidence and traces of hazardous substances at the hotel, where the bodies of Audrey and Noemi Belanger, aged 20 and 26, from Quebec province, were found last Friday, showing signs of having suffered an extreme toxic reaction. The experts have not yet concluded on what caused the deaths of the two sisters. But according to them, among possible causes of the death is the intake of arsenic or pesticide. The local police said that the tourists’ belongings were still in the room and there was no sign of violence. However, the police found vomit and traces of blood on their lips and gums. (TNA)
