Thailand, SKorea jointly support IP protection

BANGKOK, May 24 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Commerce's Department of Intellectual Property and South Korea jointly organized a seminar on intellectual property (IP) protection for digital media in Bangkok Thursday. After opening the 2012 Korea-Thailand Copyright Forum on Digital Content Industry Promotion & Copyright Protection, Duangporn Rodphayat, Deputy Director-General of Thailand's Department of Intellectual Property, said piracy on digital contents has been growing, while consumers are aware of or are not aware of the piracy and digital content producers have not even known that they can charge copyright fees in some cases. Therefore, Duangporn acknowledged, her department and the Korea Copyright Commission jointly organized the seminar to educate concerned parties on copyrights, promote the production and protection of digital contents and develop the creative industry in Thailand. According to the senior official, the seminar is also aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the Thai creative industry and promoting Thailand's positive image in the eyes of the international community.
