Thailand-Cambodia trade volume boosted in 2011
BANGKOK, January 6 (TNA) - Border trade between Thailand and cambodia has been increasing significantly year by year.
According to Isiwut Tangkiart, chairman of a Thai-Cambodian border trade and tourism association in Thailand's eastern Chantaburi Province, border trade along the Thai-Cambodian border in Chantaburi totalled over two billion baht last year, up 20 per cent or 400 million baht from a year earlier, with Thai exports to Cambodia exceeding 1.8 billion baht.
Isiwut acknowledged that the Thai-Cambodian border trade has kept growing over the past 10 years, assessing that the Thai-Cambodian border trade in 2012 will likely further increase by 500 million baht from 2011, although China and South Korea have become major competitors to Thailand in the neighbouring Cambodian and Vietnamese markets.
