Thailand, Cambodia launch twin radio program

BANGKOK, July 5 (TNA) - Thailand and neighbouring Cambodia have jointly launched a "twin radio" program to serve people living along their common border, in preparation for the establishment of the Single Community of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) by 2015. The Thai-Cambodian twin radio program is based on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on bilateral broadcast and information technology or IT cooperation between Bangkok and Phnom Penh signed in February 2006. Under the MOU, Thailand and Cambodia will exchange radio and television programs, news reports, printed materials, documentaries, films, as well as visits by concerned officials, aimed to boost and strengthen bilateral relations in various areas, namely education, sports, as well as socio-economic and cultural spheres. Meanwhile, concerned Thai and Cambodian officials attended a workshop in Thailand’s northeastern Surin province on Thursday to discuss and work out joint frameworks of the production and broadcast contents of the "twin radio" programs.
