Thailand to build second synchrotron light lab

BANGKOK, June 3 (TNA) - Thailand’s Science and Technology Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi says he is seeking Cabinet approval for the construction of the country’s second ‘synchrotron light laboratory.’ According to minister, the eight-billion baht project will share the same compound with Synchrotron Light Research Institute, which is currently located in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Mr. Plodprasop reported that there were currently two such laboratories within the ASEAN region, one in Singapore and Thailand. A synchrotron light source is artificially produced for scientific and technical purposes, and is now being used by a growing number of hospitals for medical imaging. (TNA)
