Thai police nab Nigerian kidnapper
BANGKOK, May 25 (TNA) - Thai police have arrested a Nigerian man for kidnapping a Thai woman with a ransom demand of two million baht.
The Thai police rounded up 36-year-old Djaghlouli Brahim or Danny in Bangkok on Thursday, after his victim’s family filed missing person report on May 22 and later showed ransom note to the police investigators.
Metropolitan police chief Police Lieutenant General Winai Thongsong told reporters that the Nigerian man, who had locked up his victim at the Romance Inn Hotel in the capital's Sukhumvit area, confessed that he made acquaintance with the Thai woman through a social networking website while he was in neighbouring Malaysia four months ago and he then lured the Thai victim to meet him at the hotel and drugged her with a sleeping pill.
The Nigerian man, who claimed that he was in need for cash to support his family in Malaysia, has been charged with kidnapping for ransom punishable up to 20 years in jail. (TNA)
