Thai PM visits flood victims in Singburi

SINGBURI, November 15 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra visited flood victims in Phochai District of Thailand's central Singburi Province on Tuesday morning and handed out relief packs for the affected people. Yingluck lauded the unified spirit of Singburi's people to prevent provincial economic zones from floods, with part of them even allowing their houses inundated voluntarily and sacrificially. The locals have been affected by a breach of a section of the provincial Bang Chom Sri sluice since Sept 13. As the inundations in Singburi have been receding, the prime minister instructed the provincial governor to immediately survey damage caused to the local villagers so that the government will quickly hand out financial support to them. The Pheu Thai premier arrived in Singburi on Monday to inspect the updated water situation and to visit flood-affected people. Premier Yingluck stayed overnight in the central province and was flying back to Bangkok after visiting the flood victims in Phochai. (TNA)
