Thai PM launches National Children's Day functions
BANGKOK, January 14 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra inaugurated nationwide celebrations of the National Children's Day 2012 in Bangkok on Saturday morning, urging adults, including parents and teachers, to pay attention to children, who are a significant younger generation force to drive ahead national development in the future.
Accompanied by her only son, Suphasek Amornchat, Yingluck presided over a ceremony to inaugurate the National Children's Day at Sanam Suepa, where she also handed out presents to children and visited booths of activities organised for participating children and youths.
In her message to children and youths on the occasion of the National Children's Day 2012, which falls on January 14, Premier Yingluck particularly praised youths who assisted flood victims and urged general people to do the same to help troubled compatriots.
The Pheu Thai premier explained her motto for the National Children's Day 2012, which calls for unity, knowledge, wisdom, the conservation of Thai identities and technological updates, saying that unity will lead to success, knowledge and wisdom will result in decent life, Thai identities in the forms of Thai cultures and Thai wisdom are valuable and deserve conservation and technological updates and wise application are beneficial.
The prime minister insisted that children and youths represent important human resources and power for national development, promising that her government is promoting the development of the country's younger generations so that they will grow to be the quality adults who are knowledgeable and decent and prioritize the public interest and unity, as well as realize and observe their duties and disciplines, catch up with technological developments and see the importance of the nation, religions and the constitutional monarchy.
