Thai King inspects water situation of Chao Phraya River
BANGKOK, November 15 (TNA) - His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who has been recuperating at Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital along the Chao Phraya River and has been internationally recognized for his expertise in water management, inspected the water situation at a riverside building on Monday, when the beloved monarch also cordially greeted a number of people along the path amid an echoic chorus of "Long Live the King."
The 84-year-old revered monarch moved to and from the riverside building on an electric wheelchair with his pet dog, Thong Daeng, as the audience, shouting their best wishes for His Majesty the King, obviously appeared to be happy to see His Majesty in good condition now. Reports said earlier that His Majesty the King suffered a minor bleeding from his stomach due to his serious concerns over the plight of flood victims in the country.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn later met His Majesty the King at the riverside building after finishing her work.
Massive flood water from the Lower Thai North, the central region and even Greater Bangkok, since late July, is being urgently discharged to the sea, partly through the Chao Phraya River. At Siriraj Hospital, the Thai government has erected a concrete and sandbag dyke, some 3.50 metres high above the mean sea level, to prevent the riverside hospital from flooding. (TNA)
