Thai government is restoring industrial estates affected by floods

BANGKOK, November 1 (TNA) - The Thai Government is restoring industrial estates in Ayutthaya province that were damaged by flooding, according to Industry Minister Dr. Wannarat Charnukul. Dr. Wannarat said on Tuesday the cabinet had assigned the Economic Revival Panel Committee to aid the private sector. He said Deputy Prime Minister Kittirat Na Ranong, who is also Commerce Minister, would meet with Ayutthaya Provincial Governor and representatives of the flood-hit estates later in the day to discuss about further assistance measures. The Economic Revival Panel Committee would assist the affected estates by providing water pumps as well as tax breaks for machinery imports. It would also hire foreign experts to inspect the machines damaged by floods. Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry had assigned the Small Business Credit Guarantee Corporation to guarantee 30 percent of the 100-billion-baht loan from financial institutions with the aim of reducing the burden on the private sector.
