Thai government fully protects non-flooded industrial sites
BANGKOK, November 4 (TNA) - The Thai government, in cooperation with the local private sector, is trying best to prevent floods at industrial sites in Bangkok and will begin rehabilitating those recently inundated next week.
Thai Deputy Prime Minister Kittirat Na-Ranong told reporters on Friday that parts of government workers and equipment have been allocated to fully protect remaining industrial sites having been unaffected by floods, including the Bang Chan and Lat Krabang Industrial Estates in the capital's suburban areas.
Kittirat, who is also Commerce Minister, said that senior officials of the Thai Ministry of Industry have closely worked together with the private sector to inspect and follow up the updated water situation near the unaffected industrial sites and to prepare measures in good place to deal with possible inundations.
The deputy premier acknowledged that floodwater at major industrial sites in the country's central Ayutthaya have become stable, enabling workers to install water pumps to dry out and rehabilitate the areas, beginning next week at the first-hit Rojana Industrial Estate.
According to the deputy premier, the Thai Ministry of Energy is purchasing more machines and equipment to fully support rehabilitation plans at flood-affected business firms to relieve damage caused to the local private sector and to the national economy. (TNA)
