Terror suspects to stand trial on May 25

Manama, May 13 (BNA): The Public Prosecution has completed its investigations into the case of the ten-member terror group accused of targeting police personnel through carrying out a terror blast in front of the Applied Science University, Advocate General, Chief of the Terror Crimes Prosecution Ahmed Al-Hammadi stated.
Documents of the case indicate that six suspects collaborated with the remaining ones to plant the explosive device near the entrance of the college. When the policemen came near the concealed bomb, the defendants detonated it remotely, using a mobile phone. The blast damaged three civil cars.
The suspects were identified following a research operation and investigation. During their arrest, the first and second defendants resisted the judicial officer, while the second tried to attack him by a gun. Policemen succeeded in taking the gun back by force and arrested them.
The Advocate-General added that the two defendants had guided the police to the place where the weapons and explosives were hidden. They also confessed to carrying out the blast, and re-enacted the incident.
Some suspects were accused of carrying out the blast, illegal possession and use of explosive to terrorise innocent people and put their lives and property at risk, disruption of public order and deliberate damage of property, he said.
Others were charged with making and possessing explosive devices, guns, home-made ammunition that can be used as shotgun bullets and Molotov cocktails, he added, noting that two suspects were also accused of threatening and using force against a public officer.
The Advocate-General affirmed that the defendants had carried out their crimes for terrorist purposes.
The Prosecution remanded three suspects in custody pending their trial by the High Criminal Court on May 25 and ordered the speedy arrest of those who are still at large.
