Tehran: Iran, France to exchange diplomats soon

Tehran, Feb 6, IRNA – Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araqchi said Tehran and Paris would exchange their ambassadors in the near future. The two countries will exchange their diplomats after more than six months of absence of the two countries' diplomats from their respective embassies in Tehran and Paris, Araqchi said during a recent exclusive interview with the French daily Le Figaro on the sidelines of Iran-France sixth political meeting in Paris. The two countries have agreed to exchange ambassadors very soon, he added. Ex-French Ambassador to Tehran François Sénémaud, has been named as President Macron’s personal representative in Syria in July 2018. Araqchi left Tehran for Paris on Monday (Feb 4) on a four-nation tour of Europe to attend the sixth round of Iran-France political dialogues. He took part on Tuesday in the sixth meeting of Iran-France political dialogues which was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Maurice Gourdault-Montagne. Araqchi is expected also to visit Austria, Slovakia and Bulgaria. 9060**2044 Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
