Sustainable Development workshop inaugurated

Manama, May 12 (BNA): The Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Minister Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf inaugurated a workshop on "Sustainable Development of Coastal Areas in the Arab Gulf" organized by the Bahrain Society of Engineers in collaboration with the ministry and the GCC General Secretariat on Monday, May 11. In his speech on this occasion, the minister said sustainable city and urban development is considered one of the components of comprehensive development, and the relevant municipal agencies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states have always been keen on collective work to achieve sustainable development in our sisterly countries. The minister added that coastal areas development is one of the pillars of urban development, and the concept of this specialized workshop has been derived as one of our common functions to boost expertise and mutual experiences and to apply best practices in the field of coastal development. Bahrain has worked as per the data in its National Strategic Structure and Economic Development2030, particularly the National Strategy for Coastal Development and Sea Facades, and implemented a series of project to achieve this ambitious strategic vision.
