Strong wind, rising sand expected

Manama, June 18 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain will be affected on Friday by moderate to fresh northeasterly winds during the day. Winds will become stronger on Saturday and the next few days. The directorate called on citizens, especially seafarers to be careful and cautions. Seasonal low pressure, starting in central and southern parts of Pakistan and extending to the Arabian Gulf in June and July, usually leads to "shamal" (north) winds. Known locally as (Al-Barreh), the Shamal winds blow for 40 days, but their speed varies from one year to another. This wind is usually dry and associated with dust haze and local rising sand due to its passage over the Southern part of Iraq and the Northern parts of the Arabian Peninsula but pleasant overnight due to low humidity’s. It is worth mentioning that the average maximum temperature in June is 36 C and the minimum is 29 C.
