SRT to offer services between Taling Chan–Bang Sue in Bangkok

BANKGOK, July 7 (TNA) - The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will soon provide its services between Taling Chan and Bang Sue areas in Bangkok, pending the completion of the construction of the so-called red route of the country's extended mass electric rail transit systems. SRT Governor Yuthana Thapcharoen told reporters Saturday that SRT plans to launch the 15-kilometre-train services between Taling Chan and Bang Sue in the near future, with six round-trips to be initially offered daily to passengers. Yuthana acknowledged that the SRT plan followed the Thai Cabinet's recent approval of the construction of the Bang Sue central station, which will serve the extended mass electric rail transit systems to improve urban communication and easing traffic congestion in the Thai capital and peripheral provinces, but the construction is expected to take four years. So far, the SRT chief said, rail construction and civil works for the extended mass electric rail transit systems on the red-rout have been completed, but services have not yet been launched because the construction of the Bang Sue central station has not yet been complete. According to the SRT chief, the new train services between Taling Chan and Bang Sue were likely to be launched by the end of this month, if all necessary paper works were concluded. (TNA)
