Speaker urges cooperation to confront challenges

Manama, Feb. 16 (BNA): The constitutional bodies have a key role to play in confronting challenges which are facing Bahrain and the whole region. Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Mulla stressed the importance of consolidating executive-legislative cooperation to optimise achievements, which will benefit the country. He made the statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of the meeting of the parliamentary committee in charge of replying to the royal keynote speech with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. He stressed the importance of the royal address which, he said, reflects keenness on laying strong foundations to build a prosperous future for the coming generations, underlining the need to muster all efforts to deal with challenges that confront Bahrain, the region and the whole world. He pledged to work in line with the royal vision advocated by HM the King through the reform project which represented a defining moment in Bahrain's history. The reform project, he said, put Bahrain on the international map of human rights, democracy and liberties which are all enshrined and guaranteed in the constitution and law provisions and place the kingdom on par with other advanced nations. The Speaker said he was honoured, along with MPs, to meet and hear farsighted and visionary directives, reiterating commitment to translate the content of the keynote royal speech into reality for sake of the nation and citizens.
