Speaker: Parliamentary cooperation necessary to overcome challenges

Jakarta, Apr. 23 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla has underscored the importance of cooperation among the parliaments of the world to overcome the challenges facing the process of sustainable development and real economic growth.
He pointed out that any attempt to penetrate the national cultures or violate the rights and freedom of any country is a blatant interference, which is unacceptable.
He stressed on the importance of respecting the internal sovereignty of all nations and their international norms and conventions, and stand in the face of any foreign interference in countries internal affairs, especially Asian and African countries.
Al-Mulla highlighted Bahrain's remarkable experience towards reform and development, ensure security and stability, support economy development and promoting rights and duties.
He affirmed that Bahrain achieved landmark strides under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in order to consolidate cooperation with Asian and African nations and bolster bilateral relations with friendly countries so as to enhance the reform project and democratic process.
This came in the opening speech of Asia Africa Parliamentary Conference, given by Head of Services Committee MP Abbas Al Madhi on behalf of Al-Mulla, who headed the participating council of representatives' delegation.
Al-Mulla met here today the Indonesian President Joko Widodo and conveyed to him the greetings of the Bahraini leadership and people.
They affirmed the solid bilateral relations on all levels, expressing hope that more efforts will be exerted to serve the best interest of the two countries' governments and peoples.
Al-Mulla expressed thanks and appreciation to the Indonesian government and people for hosting Asia Africa Parliamentary Conference, held on the sidelines of Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference, first organised in Bandung, in 1955.
He wished the participants and organisers every success at achieving positive results.
