Speaker Mamytov meets with chairman of Environment and Labor Committee of Korean Parliament

Bishkek, June 9, 2022. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Talant Mamytov received a parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Korea, led by Chairman of the Committee on Environment and Labor of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Park Dae-chul, as well as Ambassador of the South Korea to Kyrgyzstan Lee Won-jae. The press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported that the meeting was also attended by Kyrgyz MPs. The sides discussed the strengthening of political-economic and cultural-humanitarian ties between the countries, as well as aspects of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation. Talant Mamytov noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with the Republic of Korea and sees Korea as an important partner in the Asian region. "This year our countries are celebrating a landmark event - the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The cooperation between our countries is developing progressively both within the framework of bilateral partnership and multilateral platforms," he said, expressing gratitude to the Korean side for providing grants aimed at improving the country's well-being. Speaking about the development of inter-parliamentary relations, the speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament pointed to the need to intensify mutual visits at the level of parliamentary friendship groups and committees in order to maintain the dynamic development of inter-parliamentary dialogue between the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Korea. He stressed that Kyrgyzstan is interested in further expanding relations with the Republic of Korea in many topical areas of mutual interest. "In this regard, I would like to highlight the sphere of water resources, in particular the implementation of joint projects to improve water supply, as well as the creation of an environmentally friendly city in Issyk-Kul and the development of small hydropower plants," he added. In turn, the chairman of the Environment and Labor Committee of the Korean National Assembly thanked Mamytov for the warm welcome, and noted that the Republic of Korea attaches great importance to cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, including the implementation of joint projects in trade, investment and tourism. Park Dae-chul added that he would make every effort to work through the initiatives voiced by the speaker and to raise the Kyrgyz-Korean relations to a new level.
