Speaker condemns Kuwait mosque terror blast

Manama, June 26 (BNA): The Speaker of the Representatives Council Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Mulla has condemned the terror blast which hit Al-Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Al-Sawaber neighborhood in Kuwait city during the Friday prayers, leaving many worshippers either dead or wounded. He affirmed that such terror attempts will not succeed in affecting the Kuwaiti society’s unity, and the citizens’ rallying behind the leadership. The Kingdom of Bahrain’s leadership, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the government and the people are united against all attempts to undermine the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, in general, and Kuwait, in particular, stressing that any attack targeting the security and stability of a brotherly country is a direct attack on Bahrain, he said. The Speaker affirmed that such rejected terror blasts will be confronted and eliminated through continuous cooperation and coordination between the two countries and their brotherly peoples. He emphasised that the perpetrators of those terror crimes have nothing to do with Islam or any Islamic sect, but seek to spread sedition and chaos, calling for the need to confront such ideology and its activities and cement national unity and social cohesion in order not to allow them to achieve their extremist goals. Al Mulla asserted that such terror acts contravene religious precepts, as well as legal and human norms, and extended profound condolences to the families of the victims. He also lauded the efforts of the State of Kuwait in combating terrorism, expressing support to all measures to be taken by the Kuwaiti authorities to reinforce the security and stability for the interests of the citizens and residents. The Speaker called on GCC and international parliaments to condemn terror acts, amid the evil threats putting the region’s security at risk. He offered deep condolences to his Kuwaiti National Assembly counterpart Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, the Kuwaiti government and people, praying Allah Almighty to rest the souls of martyrs in eternal peace and grant their relatives with patience and consolation.
