South Korea: Iraq Is The Most Important State For Us In The Region

BAGHDAD / NINA / South Korea confirmed that Iraq is the most important country to SK in the region.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry today said, Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met in Seoul South Korean counterpart Yoon Byung - Sieh, who said that "Iraq is the most important for us in the region and our goal is to strengthen relations between our two countries, and to provide more support for Iraq in the fight against terrorism, and achieve greater economic cooperation. "
He added that his country is ready to be a partner and a friend to Iraq to help it emerge from this ordeal and they understand the difficult conditions experienced by the Iraqi people as a result of the war against terrorism, confirming the presence of a strong will of the government to participate in the rebuilding of Iraq and contribute to the return of displaced people to their areas and support the security and stability of Iraq.
He revealed that South Korea's aid is not limited to only government agencies, but there are South Korean companies providing assistance in health, education and training for government staff and support investment between the two countries through the establishment of a large service projects.
For his part, Al-Jaafari said that "Iraq is seeking to build long-term strategic partnership with South Korea, and welcomes the entry of Korean companies to invest," calling on the South Korean side to "lift the ban on the travel of its citizens to Iraq, and to increase the number of fellowships for Iraqi students in Korean universities."
He stressed "the importance of the resumption of Iraqi - South Korean Joint Committee business in this year, and motivate Korean companies to invest in Iraq," inviting his Korean counterpart to visit Iraq in the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries.
The Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari arrived in the South Korean capital on Monday on an official visit from his Korean counterpart during which he met a number of officials, including the prime minister. / End
