Society rectifies administrative violations

Manama, Sept. 20 (BNA): The Office of Political Society Affairs at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, today confirmed that the decision to suspend Al Wefaq National Islamic Society’s activities for three months, which was put on hold due to legal proceedings, has been reviewed following the correction of its administrative failings. The Office of Political Society Affairs said that the suspension originally announced was due to repeated administrative failings regarding Al Wefaq’s General Assembly Conference, and that the Society was provided with time to rectify its past failings. In light of its administrative corrections, and that the Society is limited to only 3,044 members, no further proceedings will take place. The Office of Political Society Affairs affirmed that the government is fully committed to an inclusive pluralistic society, but that political societies must respect the clear provisions of the constitution and the law.
