Social Security Covers Covid-19 Tests for People with Suspicious Symptoms
BANGKOK, Feb 28 (TNA) – The Social Security Office (SSO) has confirmed that the insured, who have suspicious symptoms after returning from countries with risks of Covid-19 infections can seek medical screening without paying under social security coverage.
SSO Secretary-General, Todsapol Krittawongwiman said the insured who have symptoms of respiratory diseases such as fever, cough and sore throat can seek medical treatment without paying as covered by social security benefits.
They are required to give the fact on their travel record and sickness of family members, he added.
If the insured cannot visit the hospital they are entitled to their benefits of basic medical insurance, they can seek medical treatment at nearby hospital or state hospitals which allows disbursement in case of public health emergency.
If they fall sick, they should see the doctor for screening to prevent the spread of the diseases.
However, if they have no related symptoms after returning from overseas trips, they should not request the Covid-19 test but should monitor themselves at home, wear face masks and practise hygiene habits, he noted. (TNA)
