Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Participates in UNAOC's Final Session

Doha, December 13 (QNA) - HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser participated Tuesday in the final session of the United Nations Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC), held in Qatar's National Convention Centre. Her Highness said that the change to UNAOC was on par with the changes currently taking place in the world today. Her Highness noted that the political changes, especially in the Arab world, and the economic ones, all over the world, demanded changes to the conference to go hand in hand with those changes. HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser expressed her happiness with the youth participation in the conference and said that youth seem to need expertise and leadership, but after the changes which took place, it seems that it is the world that needs their wisdom, leadership and expertise. Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser stressed that youth are the vital factor in the alliance of civilizations, which made the goals of the alliance stronger. HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser stated that UNAOC took a new turn due to the participation of youth who added a new flavour with their exuberance. Her highness also underlined the correlation between the alliance of civilizations and development, adding that it is a rational correlation. Her highness added that she was pleased that all involved were convinced with rationality of the relation between the goals of the UNAOC and development. Her highness further said that the developmental goals help achieve the goals of the alliance at a faster and more defined rate as well as accepting cultural diversity. Responding to a question on how to follow the accomplishments of those goals, HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser said that there is an idea of forming an observatory for the alliance that can record all the indications of all countries that can ensure they are committed financially and morally. On the role of education in achieving the goals of the alliance; Her Highness said that education is the key to social change, citing the role the Arab youth played in the countries that witnessed change. Her Highness added that education is not a luxury, but a necessity, noting that without education, the world will lie in ignorance fearing one another. (QNA)
