Manama, Apr. 8 (BNA): The Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) has organised a symposium as part of its celebration of the Arab Orphan Day. Personal Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and RCO Board of Trustees Chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa patronised the event which took place at Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Hall, at the University of Bahrain.
Shaikh Nasser said RCO is one of the dividends of the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the RCO Honorary President, to stretch a helping hand to the needy. He paid tribute to HM the King for his keenness to provide care for the orphans, protect their rights and ensure a decent life for them. He also pointed out the evolution of the RCO which started as a small committee to develop later into an organisation providing help for the helpless inside and outside Bahrain.
"The RCO has adopted a comprehensive approach which turned it into a model to emulate by charity organisations locally and internationally," Shaikh Nasser said, underlining the importance of community partnership to serve charity and humanitarian work and ensure success of development projects.
On his part, RCO Board of Trustees Deputy Chairman Shaikh Adnan bin Abdullah Al Qattan lauded the tremendous paternal care given by HM the King to Bahraini orphans and keenness to cater for their needs. He stressed the efforts of the RCO to translate the royal directives and serve the needy in Bahrain. He added that the RCO has been able to make big strides and become a main institution in charity work which earned it a good reputation at the local and international level. He called for concerted efforts to serve Bahrain under the leadership of HM the King.
Meanwhile, RCO Secretary General Dr. Mustafa Sayed highlighted the main achievements of the organisation since its inception in 2001, stressing the key role of HM the King and his continuous directives to provide every care for affiliated families. He also commended the role played by Shaikh Nasser in translating the royal directives into a reality and reaching out to the needy in Bahrain.
