Several schools reopen after long flooding holiday

BANGKOK, November 15 (TNA) - Several schools in Thailand reopened on Tuesday after being hit by vast floods, said to be the worst in the country's half a century. In Nakhon Sawan Province in the Lower Thai North, 104 schools have reopened and become lively again with the presence of numerous students, after their new school semester was long delayed by the great flooding over the past two months. Several streets in the Nakhon Sawan Municipality were congested on Tuesday morning, as passenger cars and buses were sending students to schools. Similarly, several schools in the central Ang Thong Province were active on their reopening day although some parents said they remain worried over water levels of the Chao Phraya River, as they are now nearly one meter high above its banks. In Uthai Thani Province just above the central plain, some schools needed help from their students on the reopening day to clean their earlier-flooded school buildings and compounds. Those schools could not resume their classes right away due to severe flood-borne damages and need some times for repair. (TNA)
