Security forces arrest bomb suspect in Thai south
NARATHIWAT, November 3 (TNA) - A man suspected of planting a bomb in a clothes shop in Su-ngai Padi District of Thailand's southernmost Narathiwat Province last Sunday has been arrested.
The 25-year-old suspect, identified as Asamadi Jemoh, was nabbed late Wednesday night at his house in Sungai Padi’s Paluroo Sub-district by a joint force of government security officers, comprising the Sungai Padi police, the company 447 of border patrol police and the Narathiwat’s 31st special task force.
The joint force seized a (bronze Honda Wave) motorbike, two 10-Malaysian-ringgit banknotes and two white T-shirts, one of which the suspect was spotted wearing at the shop targeted by the bomb attack.
The suspect, who later confessed that he rode the motorbike to the shop to buy T-shirts, was then sent to the Sungai Padi Police Station for further legal action.
The bomb was discovered by the owner of the “Saeng Sawang” clothes shop in the Paluroo Municipal Market and was timely disposed by police before it went off. Another bomb, packed in a soft drink can and planted in the same locality, exploded, causing damages to a targeted shop but no injuries were reported. (TNA)
