Second Doha Forum on Combating Human Trafficking
Doha, January 16 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HH Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser , the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) the Second Doha Forum on Combating Human Trafficking on the Arab Initiative for building national capacities for combating human trafficking in the Arab States, kicked off here on Monday .
The event is being held in collaboration between Qatar Foundation to Combat Human Trafficking and the Arab League and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
The opening session was attended by Chief Of The Armed Forces Maj.Gen. Hamad Bin Ali Attiyah , the General Prosecutor HE Dr. Ali Bin Fetis Al-Marri , a number of the ministries'representatives of the state institutions concerned with combating Human trafficking as well representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited to Qatar.
He stressed that the launch of the first forum held last year which followed this forum and the generous initiative of Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser to support the belief in the forum came from the State of Qatar, the importance of combating the crime of trafficking in human beings.
He said in his opening speech that the State of Qatar adopted a number of humanitarian initiatives the most important of which is that initiative which reflects the seriousness of this crime, which the humanity with its old civiliztion has remained fighting this phenomenon, which titles passed through many terms until it reached the name of human trafficking, prompting the UN to adopt an anti-traffickening in its Charter in 1948.
The Attorney-General further said that the whole world agreed on the importance of the UN Convention to combat trafficking in persons and signed by the world countries , without exception, and all UN members .. So we are now before a binding agreement for all and no one can evade them, stressing that any one who does not respect this agreement presents himself and his coutnry to strict sanctions by the international community because of such a crime is rejected by the simple human being and the common sense before the law.
In his speech HE Al Marri highlighted the initiatives adopted by Qatar, the most important of which was the initiative of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser for holding such a forum, which comes to complement the good work that you perform on all levels .. He pointed out that the crime of trafficking in human beings shake the pillars of communities and those working on it for its eradication and thus create a better tomorrow for future generations.
He stressed that the State of Qatar does not sign any international convention unless it is convinced, but when signed ,it would be fully committed to implement through all its agencies to respect what was signed.(QNA)
