SCW's role, achievements highlighted

Manama, Apr. 11 (BNA): The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) has held a meeting at the Abdulla Al-Othman Majlis in Muharraq, as part of the series of meetings organised by the work team of the Secretariat-General to highlight the SCW's goals and duties, as well as its role in implementing the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, in collaboration with its executive partners in the Kingdom.
Director-General of Administrative and Media Affairs Ezz El Din. Khalil Al Moayyad staged a presentation on the march of the SCW and its crucial role in the ensuring the sustainability of the national efforts to advance Bahraini women.
In addition to the developed national laws which contributed to strengthening women's rights, the SCW has provided all kinds of support to efforts to empowering Bahraini women through women-oriented programmes, projects and initiatives, and exerted efforts in activating the National Model for Integrating Women's Needs in the government's action plan and fostering the principle of equal opportunities, he explained.
The meeting also focused on the role of the Women's Support Centre and its role in providing family guidance and counseling, spreading awareness of women's rights and their legal right, and coordinating with the relevant executive bodies on women's needs.
The Abdulla Al-Othman Majlis commended the efforts of the SCW, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the SCW, to advance the Bahraini women, citing the achievements which contributed to empowering Bahraini women in all fields.
It also hailed the SCW's keenness to remove all obstacles facing women in the political, economic and social fields.
