SCW's breast cancer awareness-raising events continue

Manama, Oct. 30 (BNA): The Supreme Council for Women (SCW)'s Secretariat-General held a series of events and functions during the month of October for the aim of raising awareness on breast cancer, as part of the SCW's efforts to improve the Bahrain women's quality of life, enhance their health and psychological well-being and enable them to enjoy a decent and secure life. In this regard, the SCW held a lecture on the importance of early detection of breast cancer, delivered the ‎Chief Of Surgery & Consultant General Surgical Oncologist at the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) Dr. Amal Al-Rayes, in the presence of representatives of women-oriented civil society institutions. The SCW also changed the colours of its website and social networks' accounts to pink, which denotes breast cancer awareness. The SCW's Youth Committee also focused on the pink colour in its publications which included awareness-raising information on the disease. The aforementioned efforts are in line with the "quality of life" impact of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, an impact focusing on helping Bahraini women to enjoy decent and secure life in all age stages, boosting health and psychological safety and broadening work option for them so as to be added-value elements in their community.
