SCW, GPIC cooperation discussed

Manama, Nov. 2 (BNA): The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari received Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and Senior Company Officials. During their meeting, the two sides reviewed areas of cooperation and joint programmes they have jointly implemented. Hala Al Ansari briefed Dr. Jawahery on SCW activities and its programmes for celebrating the Bahraini Women’s Day next month on the theme, Women in the financial and banking Sector. Dr. Jawahery assured the SCW of GPIC’s full aid and support to make all the events a success. She thanked Adviser to HRH the Prime Minister for Oil and Industrial Affairs and GPIC Chairman Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa for his generous support and recalled the Company’s contributions as well as its cooperation and communication with SCW. She spoke of Dr. Jawahery’s vision and management expertise in guiding the Company as well as his support of working women at the Company, which led to it getting the HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award. She said his initiatives had enabled Bahraini women from the private sector to gain much recognition in all aspects of work. She said his initiatives to provide more training opportunities for women in order to qualify them better had given them the recognition they deserve. Dr. Jawahery said the Company is eager to support Bahraini women at all times and encourage efforts to qualify them even further by setting up joint programmes aimed at their accessing new opportunities as well as through events held by SCW. He praised the vision of HRH Princess Sabeeka, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and SCW President, who he credited with setting up the SCW as an advisory body for everything related to the affairs of Bahraini women. He stressed that the council provides quality knowledge and expertise in the field of women's progress and advancement as well as works to integrate their needs in the programmes of the state. This, he said, enables them to become an integral part in the development of the Country. He noted the SCW also encourages women to exercise their rights and make a value-added impact on decision-making. He said Bahraini women are a special case, given the nature of Bahraini society, which continues to support their participation in the nation building process as mother’s or through equal participation with men in nation building and national development. He expressed the confidence in the ability of Bahraini women to achieve a delicate balance between these two important roles that represent stability. He extended an invitation to all private sector institutions to double their support for SCW programmes prepared to support and empower Bahraini women to help the Council to achieve its objectives. He recalled the significance of government institutions and the private sector to carry out roles assigned to them and called on all segments of society to give Bahraini women the chance to prove to the whole world their will and desire to take responsibility. He stressed that GPIC would always remain a key supporter of anything that could promote Bahraini women's capabilities and help them access to the highest echelons of leadership. He said it is also part of the Company's approach and policies in support of Bahrain and its stability, under the leadership of its Chairman. Bahraini Women’s Day, celebrated on December 1 every year, is a national event looked forward to by all public and private institutions in Bahrain. It is an important occasion to highlight the milestones of Bahraini women and their contributions in support of national development in various fields.
